Let the games begin…!
Summer 2000 schedule for
EAGLES – THE ALBANIAN SOCCER TEAM.
Last winter, Eagles - the Albanian soccer team, played its first season in GSSL (Greater Seattle Soccer League), division 4. The team name, "Eagles", comes from Albania’s nickname, "Land of Eagles". Team jerseys proudly sport the Eagle emblem from the Albanian flag. The team is made mostly of Albanian – Kosovar refugees that found refuge in greater Seattle area last year.
The spring season just ended. We played on division 3B and went through many challenges. The summer season is just around the corner. We are still on division 3B and we’ll play every Sunday afternoon. Enclosed are the schedule and the directions to the fields. This is an invitation for you and your family to come and join the Albanian community getting together around the soccer field. Forming a united community, being in peace and comfortable is one of the main goals we hope to accomplish. So far we have had 70 new visitors. More then half of them, are Albanians that we met for the first time.
These activities have special meaning in our lives. We are really thankful for the great support of the local churches. Hope to see you there. We will give you a hug and we promise to score a goal for you!
Sincerely,
Rudi Gjoni Team Manager |
